Short answer, yes! Every day is different and I get to do lots of fun things like make my stem cells turn into new cell types like brain cells or heart cells (see the video of beating heart cells on my profile page!).
I do lots of fun things with my friends from the lab as well, we go to a pub quiz every week and have lots of coffee breaks and chats at lunch to keep ourselves from getting too annoyed when experiments fail!
Incredibly fun yes! There is a great deal of variety to it and nearly everyday provides a different challenge. Sometimes it can be difficult if you run up against a particular problem but the other great thing is that you work with incredibly intelligent people who will help you out.
When things work after such a long period of work it’s so incredibly rewarding too!
Yes, for me it certainly is! I love putting on my lab coat and working with pipettes and various solutions to extract DNA and RNA from cancer cells and tissues. The work is interesting and can be quite varied project to project so I feel I am often working on something new.
