I’ve worked as a technician for over 20 yrs in a variety of labs. I worked in a vet lab as a technical assistant before moving into genetic research where I assisted a number of researchers. I currently work in a service role providing a sequencing service in an institute of over 500 researchers.
-
My Typical Day:
My first port of call once I have arrived at work is to check my emails to see if there are any enquiries about booking the service I run. Once emails have been dealt with I continue on with the experiments that I currently have running (each experiment takes 1.5 days) After lunch I usually check my emails again and then send out results as needed before I finish my day at 430pm.

What I'd do with the prize money:
If I were to win the prize money I would use it to further my training in public engagement and to advertise the role of a technical support within research and what we provide for researchers.
